5 reasons we picked an Endy mattress and 100 days to decide if we loved it

After consistently waking up in the morning with aches and pains, my husband and I decided it was time to get a new mattress. We decided on a Canadian made Endy mattress and couldn’t be happier with our decision. Below are the top five factors we considered when shopping, and the reasons why we’re now sleeping better than ever.

Reason # 1 – A Simple Purchase

The last time we went mattress shopping was as newlyweds, over eight years ago. Purchasing a mattress at that time meant driving around the city, visiting mattress stores and awkwardly laying in front of a salesperson trying to determine if this mattress was right for you. I’ve always found the whole process of mattress shopping so uncomfortable and unappealing.

Wanting to avoid a similar shopping experience from the last time, but knowing we were in desperate need of a new mattress, we turned to the mattress-in-a-box companies – and there are a lot of them! My husband loves nothing more than an excuse to create a spreadsheet, so we started comparing the various features: types of foam, price point, height of mattress, delivery options, cost and, of course, reviews. We knew we didn’t want a traditional spring-style mattress again; we spent so much money on our “fancy” spring-style pillow top and while we liked it at first, it didn’t take long before it started showing serious signs of wear. We had two large sink spots where we both slept making it basically impossible to sleep in any other position without rolling into these holes our bodies had created. As a result of this – and although we were so used to it, we didn’t realize how bad it was – we both woke sore, tired, and not all that rested.

I also didn’t want a typical memory foam mattress because they tend to adjust to the temperature in the room and can become harder or softer depending on how you like to keep the bedroom temperature. Reason #3 - Support & Comfort

Like most couples, my husband and I are built very differently and sleep in completely different positions. He’s a stomach sleeper and I can only sleep on my side, which always made it tricky to pick a mattress without one of us having to make a significant compromise. The Endy is the first mattress we’ve both loved equally; regardless of sleeping position you’re properly supported and comfortable. This has made such a difference to how we feel when we get up each morning. We had gotten so used to the random aches and pains that came with our old mattress that we didn’t realize that wasn’t necessarily normal. My shoulders and hips feel so much better and my husband’s back hasn’t hurt since we made the switch.

As important as it is was for us to have a quality mattress, it was equally as important to have good pillows to go with it. We received a set of pillows from Endy to try out and they worked really well for both of us. They are full of the same type of foam as the mattress and come with a zipper to access the foam so you can adjust it to be just as full as you like simply by adding or removing foam. This feature was key for our different sleeping positions; I like my pillow tall and full while my husband prefers a flatter profile and neither of us had to sacrifice for the other. As well, the covers are hypo-allergenic and machine washable – I don’t know about you, but I don’t buy anything that I can’t throw in the washing machine.

Reason #4 - Delivery & Timeline

We took our sweet time doing all of our research, as we tend to do with any purchase as important as a mattress, so when we finally decided on Endy we were really eager to receive it and try it out. We placed the order and, not kidding, it arrived on our doorstep within 48 hours! Often our Amazon Prime deliveries don’t even arrive that fast because we live outside of the city.

The mattress arrived securely packed inside the box along with our two pillows and although it was compact, it was so easy to unpack and set up that I did it by myself (although my husband helped me carry it up to our room). Delivery was free, which I really appreciated; it can leave a bit of a sour taste in your mouth to spend hundreds of dollars on a large item only to be charged an additional arm and a leg for shipping at checkout.

Reason #5 - No Risk

Another reason why we chose an Endy mattress over the other bed-in-a-box styles was that we could actually go lay on one displayed at an Urban Barn store. There are so many options out there, but Endy is one of the only ones that offers this and even though we didn’t want to do all of our shopping around in person, it was nice to be able to see and feel an Endy to confirm our decision.
